The Washington Commanders will get a fresh start after this season. Head Coach Ron Rivera is expected to be let go after 4-years. He has coached the team in 63 games while winning 26 and losing 36. Rivera has not been able to get the formula right for the Commanders who sit at the bottom of the NFC East having won just 4 games and 9 losses.

While Ron Rivera has expressed his confidence that the ownership still believes in him, that might not be the case anymore. It will be a complete revamp at the Commanders organization as the buck will not stop with Rivera’s firing alone. Several other key members of the front office risk losing their job as well, per Diana Russini of The Athletic.

At this point, it's understood based on multiple people I have spoken with that Ron Rivera and some front office members will be fired. Since acquiring the team, new owner Josh Harris has had the vision to keep Rivera in place through the end of the season, then move on. It's not a secret anymore.

The report states that Ron Rivera was on owner Josh Harris‘ to-fire list for a while. It is not a sudden move that could not have been predicted.

Ron Rivera is having his worst year as the HC of the Washington Commanders

Rivera was appointed by Dan Snyder just before the commencement of the 2020 NFL season. He was able to lead the team to the playoffs in his first year, but that was it. They never did go back there after.

The team has had a lot of uncertainty looming around at key positions. They have not found their franchise quarterback yet. Sam Howell is in his second year in the NFL and has been their go-to for this season.

The front office made some questionable moves after they traded Montez Sweat and Chase Young, the best defensive players on the team. It has not been all that bad. Howell has improved from his rookie year having thrown for 3,466 yards, 18 touchdowns but his 14 interceptions this season have made him a turnover machine.

Ron Rivera will close out this season and along with him, Martin Mayhew, the GM of the Commanders could also be on the hot seat. The team is likely to go into a rebuild mode in order to build its roster back up at the outset of this season.
