The Washington Commanders are making some major moves to their team. The organization let go of Jack Del Rio, the team’s defensive coordinator after a 4-8 record this season, and a blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday. The front office has made what is expected to be the first of many coaching changes.

In light of this, there is uncertainty regarding Ron Rivera‘s job despite the head coach being ‘unbothered‘ for his job. The HC will handle defensive play calling for the rest of the season. The team has the worst defense in the NFL this season as they have allowed the most points and yards. It has become painful to watch the Commanders play.

So far, the Commanders have allowed QBs to throw nearly 50 passes exceeding 20 or more yards on them. The team has failed to cause a turnover in its last three games. HC Rivera had been considering this move, and following the team’s poor showing against Dallas, he had enough and decided to pull the trigger.

The Commanders’ defense has been atrocious this season

Fans online were glad that the Commanders are at least making an effort to become better. While Jack Del Rio is gone, the next significant question that is to be answered will be about Ron Rivera’s job. He has a record of 26-34 with the Commanders. Here’s how fans reacted to the firing of Jack Del Rio.

Can Ron Rivera salvage the Commanders for the remainder of the season by taking upon the responsibilities of a DC himself? Only one way to find out. Irrespective of how the team’s season ends, the Commanders will need to make some big decisions in the offseason. The team will face the Miami Dolphins next week.
