It looks like Russell Wilson has big plans for himself for the next five years in the league. Despite not having a stable landing spot for the 2024 season given his potential departure from the Denver Broncos, Wilson is affirmative about building a legacy before retirement.
After Tom Brady, there haven’t been many elite quarterbacks with the ability to build a legacy as great as his. Except for Patrick Mahomes, who seemed to be a rising star following the path that the seven-time Super Bowl champion took.
However, the former Seattle Seahawks quarterback isn’t going to stay back and let Mahomes be the only starter to win multiple Vince Lombardi Trophies.
In a recent appearance on Brandon Marshall’s podcast, I AM ATHLETE, the 35-year-old claimed his journey in the NFL isn’t done yet and he still has enough talent to win at least two more Super Bowl trophies.
Notably, he also expressed his desire to remain with the Broncos, despite the whole Sean Payton controversy, which may release him this offseason.
I've got more fire than ever, honestly, especially over the past two years of what I've gone through. Whether it's in Denver or somewhere else, I hope it's in Denver, I hope I get to finish there. For me, it's about winning, over the next two years. I want to win two [Super Bowls]. I want to feel the chill of that trophy again. He told Marshall
Although Wilson is aiming sky-high, the reality is much different. As ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported, the Broncos are very likely to release Wilson, even though he would be entitled to $39 million in guaranteed money.
