The NFL is loaded with wide receiver talent. Each team has to have a good wideout weapon in today’s league. Two such young talents are Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens and the Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson. The comparisons between these two have already begun.
Former NFL player and current commentator Ryan Clark made a bold statement on NFL Live Wednesday. He compared Pickens and Jefferson and said that “George Pickens is much more talented than Justin Jefferson”. Clark further said, “Justin Jefferson understands everything about playing the position. He’s a savant. But here’s the other thing coach Tomlin told me that was great. He said, ‘They didn’t try to tolerate him [George Pickens] and they certainly didn’t try to raise him at Georgia. They didn’t embrace who George Pickens is’ but now at Pittsburgh and talking about the entire team loves his attitude, loves the way he approaches his job. That’s what the Pittsburgh Steelers have done for him”.
It may come across as a bold statement, especially after last season in which Jefferson led the league with 128 receptions and 1,809 receiving yards. Pickens will enter his second season with the Steelers and will hope to have an impactful year. The Steelers begin their season against the San Francisco 49ers on September 10, whereas the Vikings and Jefferson will play their first game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the same day.

Can Justin Jefferson win the MVP this year?
No wide receiver has ever won the MVP award in the history of the NFL. There have been great receivers in the past who have had tremendous seasons but the MVP trophy has always eluded them. Last season the Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson had a phenomenal year. He is averaging 96.5 receiving yards per game in his first three seasons in the league, which is the highest in league history.
Jefferson was named the second-best player in the league last season by his peers in the NFL Top 100 Players for 2022 rankings. He will be hoping to continue his stellar performance and become the first wide receiver to be crowned as the NFL MVP.
Jefferson was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Vikings. Since then he has been one of the best wide receivers in the league. The Vikings begin their season on September 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
