ESPN's Ryan Clark is of the strong opinion that Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is on equal footing with Tom Brady in one specific area.

Jalen Hurts has quickly risen to the top of the NFL in just three years of being in the NFL. The quarterback just took his team to the Super Bowl and has had a stellar performance in the regular season as well as the postseason. Hurts is already a superstar and he will continue to grow as time goes on, the Philadelphia Eagles have complete faith in him as they offered him a five-year contract extension which is worth an estimated $255 million with nearly $110 million of it fully guaranteed.
Jalen Hurts really is special and the one noticeable trait about him is that he strives to improve every year. The quarterback in his first season struggled with throwing the ball accurately, however, this year, Hurts has significantly improved when it comes to targeting his receivers. It speaks volumes about his work ethic and desire to continually improve. Ryan Clark of ESPN concurs and believes this is just the beginning for Hurts.
“I absolutely believe that he can get better. I think it is time we start comparing Jalen Hurts’ work ethic to some of those maniacal workers that we will see in the Hall of Fame soon. Guys like Drew Brees, guys like Tom Brady who consistently work to improve no matter how much success they’ve had,” Ryan stated on Get Up. That is some serious praise, comparing a young Hurts to the greatest player of all time may sound far fetched to fans at this juncture.

Ryan Clark believes Jalen Hurts will only improve in the years to come
However, Ryan Clark does have a valid point, he is referring to the work ethic of Hurts here. Numbers do not lie, Jalen finished the 2022 season with 4,461 passing and rushing yards. He had 35 passing and rushing touchdowns in total, and a completion percentage of 66.5 up from 61.3 in 2021 and 52 in 2020. So his performance has been steadily improving. This was the same mentality that Tom Brady had, despite his Super Bowl victories, every year was a new one and every season was a new one. He reset his mindset to a point where rather than focusing on the successes he had achieved, he focused on areas where he needs to make improvements.
Clark goes on to state what he expects to see from Jalen in the future, “I see him being able to become a pocket passer that will be feared by defenses and defensive coordinators. When you look at the way his accuracy improved downfield last year, I expect him to take a step up in that. When you have guys like Davante Smith, Dallas Goedert and A.J. Brown it allows you to grow as a passer. Nick Sirianni can do so much more with Jalen Hurts this year, especially from a mental standpoint.”
It is evident that Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are just taking off, the team has a lot of potential and they have the right leadership and locker room influence. This season, they are bound to be a force to be reckoned with. The team will enter this season hoping to avenge their Super Bowl loss last season and hopefully win it all this year.
