Mike McCarthy recently took brutal shots at former Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. The Cowboys had a disappointing season and their HC was probably looking for a scapegoat.
McCarthy called out the former Cowboys OC for ‘not running down the ball’ and that has cost the Cowboys many points in the game. The Dallas-based team was knocked out of the playoffs by a much more organized 49ers team.
“I’ve been there, and he’s wired a little bit that way. I’ve been where Kellen’s been. Kellen wants to light the scoreboard up, but I want him to run the damn ball so I can rest my defense … I think when you’re a coordinator, you know but you’re in charge of the offense,” Mike McCarthy stated on Dallas Morning News.
However, McCarthy’s comments weren’t taken well by the media and the Cowboys HC was bashed by almost every NFL analyst. ESPN analyst Ryan Clark too called out the Cowboys HC for his hypocrisy.
Ryan Clark’s net worth is $16 million and he gave a great metaphor of a bus driver and called out McCarthy for talking a lot and not being able to convert that talk into wins and points. Clark also spoke about the team’s wild-card loss against the 49ers.
“Kevin, we didn’t run it enough.’ That’s a lie. You actually did run it well. And you know why he didn’t run it more on first down? Because when you pass the first down and you were aggressive, you got the first down more than you didn’t when you ran it. So, you’re actually running over him with the bus and you’re wrong!,” Ryan Clark said on Get Up.
“And now we’re gonna blame it on Dak Prescott. Then, Kellen Moore, too, inadvertently, because we throw it 45 times. What you got to be able to do one time, but you can’t do it every week. It’s actually incorrect. You didn’t go in every week either!”
Kellen Moore has given a reply to the comments made by Mike McCarthy
Mike McCarthy and Kellen Moore parted ways in January. Since then, the Cowboys have a new OC and Moore has been hired as the OC of the Chargers. However, that didn’t stop the Cowboys’ HC from taking shots at Moore.
According to Todd Archer from ESPN, Moore has given a befitting reply to McCarthy by not reacting to his statements at all. Instead, the former Cowboys OC spoke about his time with the team and actually praised the Cowboys HC for having a great influence on him.
“It was really fun just to go through the process of merging worlds. I think that was such a fun process. There’s just so many little things as you go through game plans and gamedays as you’re calling the game, just being able to have those conversations about different ways you can go,” Kellen Moore stated.
