On Tuesday, the Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel announced that going forward, Will Levis will take over as the starting QB of his team and Ryan Tannehill will be the second-stringer. And now, a day after Levis was named as the starting QB, the rookie quarterback has opened up about how Tannehill has been supportive of him. But fans took issue with Tannehill helping Levis but not doing the same for Malik Willis last year.

He's been really good throughout this whole process with keeping the relationship professional while at the same time like helping me out how he can.
Levis told reporters on Wednesday.

Furthermore, the 2023 second-round draft pick also talked about how Ryan Tannehill has made Levis’ transition from the second-string QB to the starting signal-caller a smooth one.

Yesterday at practice, doing a good job of stepping in and letting me know that the reps, even in the beginning of practice, with the 1s. I didn't want to step over him, but he came to me first to be like, 'Hey, this is you.' So it was cool to hear that.

Tannehill lost his starting QB role after Levis had two good starts while Tannehill was missing games due to injury. During his 1st start in the NFL last month against the Atlanta Falcons, Will Levis completed 65.5% of his pass attempts for 238 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Now, Vrabel seemingly believes the Titans have a better future with Levis as the starter since Tannehill will hit the free agency in 2024 anyway. Tannehill said it was hard for him to lose the starting QB job but further said that he will help Levis out in any way he can.

Nonetheless, even before the injury, the 35-year-old QB was having an abysmal start to his campaign. In his 6 starts, Ryan only threw for 2 touchdowns while registering 6 interceptions. So, he was bound to lose his starting QB job anyway.

Although Tannehill has been supportive of Will Levis, many took issue with how the Titans QB is helping the 2023 rookie but refused to do the same for the 2022 rookie Malik Willis. After the Titans drafted the Liberty product in the 2022 draft, reporters asked Tannehill whether he would help mentor Willis, but the veteran QB straight up said that it wasn’t his job to mentor a quarterback.

Social media took issue with Ryan Tannehill mentoring Will Levis

Fans on social media didn’t like Ryan Tannehill’s helping Will Levis, but not Malik Willis. Although, a lot of them overlooked the point that despite saying that it is not his job to mentor Willis, Tannehill reportedly helped out Willis a lot during the practice sessions. Even Willis has mentioned it in a lot of his interviews.

Nonetheless, there is a new era in Tennessee and Will Levis is expected to be their leader for the foreseeable future. Levis has shown promising potential in his two starts. Now, he will look to lead his team to a victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their week 10 matchup this weekend.
