After 25 games, the Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis had it when the team’s offense got completely stagnant under coach Josh McDaniels. After the poor loss against the Detroit Lions, Davis took the bold step and fired McDaniels, along with general manager Dave Ziegler.

Since then, many reactions have been received by the NFL fraternity. As the industry is still coming to terms with the sudden change in the Raiders’ management, a couple of former quarterbacks also came forward giving their best wishes to McDaniels and Ziegler.

New Orleans quarterback Derek Carr, who played for six head coaches in the Raiders, from 2014 to 2022, said:

I've been through it, and this business is so tough that we forget the human side of things.

He continued:

So, my heart is for Josh and Dave and with my friends over there dealing with another change. I lost count of how many coaches it was for me at that point. There's another change for those guys to go through…a new scheme to learn, a new philosophy.

In addition to veteran Carr, New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones also spoke on the matter, saying:

I have a lot of respect for Josh and his family. I had a great experience with him and, as you said, we have a good relationship and it's a tough part of the business.

McDaniels was Pro Bowler rookie Jones’ first offensive coordination, back in 2021. And without him, Jones struggled a lot in the past two years, like how McDaniels struggled with the Raiders for two seasons. While Carr who spent just one season with McDaniels in the Raiders, had a different experience than Jones, with quite a tough time.

How Derek Carr moved on from the Raiders and wished Josh McDaniels well?

After his tenure ended with the Raiders after last season in 2022, Carr was signed by the Saints. His time with the Raiders started with head coach Dennis Allen and ended with McDaniels, the former is apparently his head coach at Saints. Even though things ended pretty roughly with the Raiders, Carr took the high road and wished them success in the future.

Now as something similar happened to his then-coach McDaniels, he empathised with him as well as Ziegler and expressed no hard feelings for them. “At the end of the day, it’s a business,” said Carr as he understands what they are currently going through, he left the Raiders when he was benched with just two games left in the season.

The Saints quarterback believes that ahead of these tough times, coach McDaniels and Ziegler would definitely have the bright days, just like how he did.
