Aaron Rodgers’ influence on the New York Jets locker room may not have been seen on the football field yet, but it couldn’t be spared making the headlines. The franchise name has again caught up in a major controversy, this time involving their young cornerback.

In a recent appearance on Adin Ross’ livestream, cornerback Sauce Gardner got himself wrapped around a huge controversy over his remark on Jewish people. He allegedly made an anti-Semitic comment on them, saying, “Ya’ll run the world.”

Unfortunately, social media didn’t take Gardner’s words kindly, as he claimed they should have. Instead, they called out the cornerback for such a comment and also labeled it as a result of Rodgers’ influence, as the two share a close bond with each other.

Regardless of the fact whether or not it was caused by the former NFL MVP, Gardner didn’t expect such an intense backlash from the internet. That’s why, shortly after his comment went viral, he went on his social media to defend himself. He claimed he meant those words in a good sense.

But realizing the gravity of the situation and the consequence it may have in his career, Gardner deleted his previous post and penned down another note for his fans, realizing his mistake. The cornerback claimed that he wasn’t aware of the fact that those words are used to spread hatred towards the Jewish people.

I love all people. While my intentions were positive, I just learned that people use those exact words I shared for hate towards Jewish people. That is not what I am about and I appreciate those who took the time to educate me on that fact.

He further clarified that he is not such type of person and expressed his gratitude towards people, who explained the whole situation and fans’ anger to him.

Jets’ star quarterback and defense ready to shine

Apart from the controversies surrounding the Jets, the team is gearing up for a winning season after learning a tragic lesson last season. Due to Rodgers’ serious torn ACL injury, he got benched in the first week and the Jets’ offense collapsed the very next week.

Now that he has recovered and returned, the franchise has again built up their expectation of the quarterback to lead the Jets to at least the playoffs, if not the Super Bowl. If the players keep up with their potential, they may have a major comeback next season.

Having a star cornerback such as Gardner among many more prominent names, the Jets are likely to have one of the best defenses in the league. He’s now transitioning into a franchise leader after making the All-Pro team in both of his seasons.
