After losing Aaron Rodgers to a season-ending injury, the New York Jets replaced him with their former second-overall pick, Zach Wilson, as their starting quarterback. The Jets, led by Wilson, suffered a humiliating loss against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in their week 2 matchup. Following the loss, New York’s star cornerback Sauce Gardner engaged in a war of words with Dallas fans before seemingly deactivating his Twitter account.
After the game, a Twitter user named Dallas Sports Fan shared some statistics that made it seem like the Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb registered 143 receiving yards while lining up against Gardner. The Jets cornerback took offense to the post and tweeted, “Damn, y’all really love saying my name on this app lol. He didn’t catch a ball on me today. Source: Me.”
While it’s true CeeDee registered 143 receiving yards in the game, he was targeted only once while lined up against Sauce Gardner, which resulted in a pass defended by the Jets cornerback. So, as Gardner mentioned, CeeDee Lamb caught zero passes while being guarded by an All-Pro cornerback. But Dallas fans made it seem like their wide receiver cooked Gardner in the game for 100-plus yards.
As a result, Gardner got into it with the Cowboys fans before seemingly taking a break from Twitter. Gardner’s less-than-desirable start to his sophomore season is getting worse by every game. He would look to break that trend by having a great game next week.

Sauce Gardner has back-to-back poor games
The Jets corner Sauce Gardner had one of the best rookie seasons for a defensive back in NFL‘s history. As a result, he received a Pro Bowl nod, first-team All-Pro recognition, and was also named the Defensive Rookie of the Year winner.
However, his sophomore season isn’t off to a great start. During the Jets’ week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills, Gardner was targeted 5 times. He allowed 5 receptions for 62 yards, which is one of the worst performances in his short career so far.
He had a better game against the Cowboys on Sunday, but he missed an opportunity for a pick-six in the game. Nonetheless, the Jets are now 1-1 after their loss against the Dallas-based football team.
Now they will look to win their next game to keep competing for the AFC East division title. They are scheduled to face their division rival New England Patriots next weekend in their week 3 game. Winning against a division rival would help improve their shot at clinching their division.
