There is a lot of hype surrounding JJ McCarthy currently. McCarthy was superior in terms of stats in comparison to other quarterbacks in the league as he registered 22 touchdowns against four interceptions. The QB covered 2,991 yards with a passing completion rate of 72.4%. In addition, the QB had a rating of 88.4 in the college season.

Considering all these, McCarthy is the hot prospect for the next year’s NFL. Though the player’s future is not decided yet, a lot of teams will show interest in the player in the coming time.

Following all these, ESPN expert Matt Miller explained the situation. The Michigan quarterback led a great offense but it was run-centric. He did not seem a pass-centric quarterback considering the performance that he had. Now, this has made the situation a bit difficult for the player.

The scouting agent told Matt Miller:

I've talked to so many scouts, one in particular who said J.J. McCarthy would be Joe Burrow if he were on a team that throws the ball. … There's a lot of love for J.J. McCarthy among the scouting community. He's tough as hell, he's got a big arm, he's a very good athlete and he's coachable.
The scouting agent said

Joe Burrow had a great college season a few years back at LSU. The QB won the Heisman Trophy in his time and later was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals. The QB also led his team to the Super Bowl in the year 2022.

Matt Miller pointed out some difficulties for JJ McCarthy

According to Miller, the NFL is fond of coachable players. That was the reason Brock Purdy garnered success in the league. He also pointed out this distinction between JJ McCarthy and Purdy. He further claimed that McCarthy might find some difficulties regarding his throwing abilities.

Miller said:

He just went out and won every game but one he started in college football. And NFL coaches and scouts love that trait in a guy who is coachable, works his tail off and does have those plus-level traits. The fit is going to matter. There's probably going to be some bumps just because he hasn't thrown the football as much as these other guys.

It is to be seen whether McCarthy gets a professional team this year or has to wait for another season. Nevertheless, he will surely shake up the league.
