The trade deadline is fast approaching and teams are looking to strengthen their rosters. Some players have been frustrated by their roles in their current teams and would love a change of scenery. One of those players is Carl Lawson, who recently vented out his frustrations over his usage by the New York Jets.
Lawson hasn’t played in the Jets’ last two games. There are rumors that he might be dealt away by the trade deadline. One team that has emerged as a possible destination for the unhappy pass rusher is the Seattle Seahawks. According to NFL analyst Cam Marino, the Seahawks have been “connected” to Lawson and the Jets are “definitely” trading Lawson, according to the reports.

Lawson isn’t the only Jet to express his frustrations over a reduced role. Earlier in the week, RB Dalvin Cook talked about his reduced role and said:
It’s something I can’t control. My name being floated around in trade rumors might be a good thing or may be a bad thing.
Jets’ second-year RB Breece Hall, who came back from an ACL injury this season, has been performing brilliantly and that has contributed to Cook’s reduced role.
The Jets are 3-3 through seven weeks of the season. Their starting QB Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury in week 1 and since then backup QB Zach Wilson has been the team’s QB. They will play their week 8 game against the New York Giants.
Carl Lawson frustrated over his usage from the Jets
Carl Lawson joined the New York Jets in 2021. After an injury-marred season in 2021, he had a great bounce-back season in 2022 as he recorded 7 sacks and 18 solo tackles. However, he has faced a reduced role this season and has vented out his displeasure with the situation.

Lawson said:
I definitely want to play and contribute because I know I can. I’ve proven that. Yeah, I always want to contribute, but right now I’m with the Jets, but I definitely want to play more. I definitely want to do what I did last year and then some. Coming off a double Achilles, I put up good numbers. I feel like I can do more. . . I’m a football player, not a cheerleader.
Lawson was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2017 NFL Draft. He had a great 2020 season after a slow start to his career. He signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Jets in 2021.
