“Worst coaching jobs in the history,” Sean Payton OBLITERATES Nathaniel Hackett for Russell Wilson and Broncos failures last season

The Denver Broncos are trying to give a comeback after a humiliating campaign last year under the combination of rookie head coach Nathaniel Hackett and veteran quarterback Russell Wilson. They acquired the experienced HC Sean Payton in the off-season to turn the tide in Denver. Amidst this, Payton now has taken the NFL world by surprise with his strong words against the Broncos’ previous HC Hackett.
“Everybody’s got a little stink on their hands, it’s not just Russell. It was a (poor) offensive line. It might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL,” Payton told Jarrett Bell of USA Today. “That’s how bad it was.”
Payton went on to claim that an NFL team getting embarrassed doesn’t happen a lot, but the Broncos allowed themselves to get embarrassed last season as a result of a poor coaching job by Nathaniel Hackett. “There’s 20 dirty hands, for what was allowed, tolerated in the fricking training rooms, the meeting rooms,” Payton said, apparently referring to the allegations about Hackett allowing Wilson to have his own office space in the Broncos’ locker room.
Payton said that last season’s failures were partly due to the Broncos trying to “win the offseason” by “the P.R., the pomp and circumstance, marching people around and all this stuff.”
This season, however, Payton will not be doing any of that. Besides, the Super Bowl-winning head coach also took a backhanded shot at the New York Jets for doing a similar mistake as the Broncos did back in 2022.“We’re not doing any of that,” Payton said. “The Jets did that this year. You watch. Hard Knocks, all of it. I can see it coming.”

Russell Wilson hasn’t hit the wall yet, claims Sean Payton
During a recent interview with USA Today, Sean Payton said the Broncos’ failures last season were mostly due to the worst coaching job by the rookie head coach Nathaniel Hackett. Furthermore, he also rejected the claims that Russell Wilson has hit the wall. “It wasn’t just Russell [Wilson]. He didn’t just flip. He still has it. This B.S. that he hit a wall? Shoot, they couldn’t get a play in,” said Payton.
The Broncos finished dead last in the AFC West with an abysmal record of 5-12 despite starting the season as playoff contenders after acquiring Wilson in a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks in the 2022 off-season.
As a result, they fired rookie coach Hackett even before the end of the 2022 regular season. They made another blockbuster trade in the 2023 off-season with the New Orleans Saints to acquire Payton.
Payton is now looking to take Denver back to the glory days. He believes Wilson still has some gas left in the tank and could lead them to a Super Bowl victory shortly. But if Wilson fails to prove himself in the upcoming season, Payton would not hesitate to cut him in 2024 despite his expensive contract.
