A large chunk of Sean Payton‘s tactics were on full display on Thursday night football when the Denver Broncos took on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead. Playcalling, doodles, and converse calls were vividly visible for everyone who tuned into their TV sets.
To make matters worse, some of the Broncos’ two-minute huddle calls were on the sheet as well. Not knowing the camera was zooming in, Payton kept reading it out through the intercom to his players. Then again, they did not manage to successfully complete most of the plays and ended the game with a 19-8 scoreline.
This defeat marked the 16th straight loss for the Denver Broncos against the Chiefs, which started back in 2015. Not to mention, they are now at the bottom of the AFC West.
The social media was divided following the leak on live TV. Few argued that the network should refrain from showing a team’s stats, while others ridiculed Payton for not realizing that he would be filmed.
However, it wasn’t just the playsheet that popped on the screen. Before the game, a close shot of quarterback Russell Wilson‘s wrist was also shared online. Unfortunately, it did not come in handy. Wilson finished the game with 13 passes completed from 22 for a mere 95 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. This was the fewest yards the 34-year-old threw in a game since December 2017.

Social media troll Sean Payton claims that his tactics don’t work
The Denver Broncos were already on a losing streak this season. Just a few days ago, Payton had said they would ‘fix’ things in the Broncos locker room. Then the news of them making almost every defensive player available for trade broke. It showed that no one is safe, and failing to produce results will see them on the chopping blocks.
Wilson, on the other hand, reassured everyone that they would turn things around. “We’ve got to create a new history,” he said during the week, as per the Denver Broncos official website. “We have to be able to do that with one play at a time, one moment at a time, and one game at a time.” However, that wasn’t the case yesterday.
“It wasn’t good enough,” Payton said after the game. “And then there’s a handful of things—plays that I even called. I was anticipating one thing and got something else, so we have to be better there. To win in our league, you gotta be better at throwing the ball.”
Now the Denver franchise is 1-5 after six games. After their Bye week, the Broncos will welcome the Green Bay Packers at Mile High on October 22.
