With an awful 1-5, there seems to be no hope for the Denver Broncos this season. Fans have totally lost hope for the Broncos, however, the team’s head coach isn’t ready to give up this soon.
During a press conference last Wednesday, Broncos head coach Sean Payton was asked what message he likes to give to the Broncos fans. Payton’s response was a bit surprising as he gave an example of another team from last year who were in a much worse position than the Broncos this season.
Payton said, “There’s a fine line here between a groove and a rut…You take a look, and I’ll give you an example – Detroit.” He elaborated on how the Lions were at 1-6 last season with many tough losses. “I know Dan [Lions coach] well, and you keep fighting. There’s a grit element involved. Some mental toughness that’s involved. Pretty soon, here they are at the end of the season. They were eliminated before, but they were in contention. Here they are now as one of those teams. We’re kind of in that position. We’re bowing up and we have to,” Payton added.
There have been several stances where teams whose season seemed to be over, but turned it around in their favour. And most of the time, that’s just a matter of one game. Broncos would get that opportunity in the coming Sunday, as they prepare to face off against the Packers.
How the Denver Broncos QB went from MVP candidate to bottom of the league?
This season has especially been hard on the Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, who usually gets affected by the chaos of the outside world. But this time, it seemed like he had slumped shoulders with unfulfilled expectations and a 1-5 record.

In his second season with the team, Wilson has had the worst career games in just a single month, especially against the Washington Commanders in Week 2. He became the first QB in the league to pass for 40,000 yards and rush for 5,000 yards.
By starting the season as league leaders, Wilson league’s last 10 in just a few weeks. In the last two games of the Broncos, the quarterback has 33 completions, and yards not longer than 29. And the Broncos rank 26th in the league in sacks.
