In the second quarter, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield hit wide receiver Mike Evans with a brilliant pass. Evans then completed a 19-yard touchdown to give the Bucs a 10-7 lead over the Green Bay Packers.

Players, as a token of appreciation, hands over the ball to a fan whenever they score a TD. Evans decided to do the same, and he scanned the crowd for a Bucs fan. Tampa travels well when the Buccaneers are playing away from Florida, and one of them was dressed as a pirate and came charging down from the stands to collect the ball.

As the 30-year-old tried to hand over the TD ball to the individual dressed like a pirate, the security guard next to him tried to interfere. Evans watched in confusion as the two men in front of him started to jostle.

It’s unclear why the guard suddenly sprung into action. One plausible explanation could be that the fan dressed as a pirate broke through the yellow gate that separates the crowd from the players on the field. It was a sight to behold, that’s for sure.

Mike Evans and Baker Mayfield dominated the Packers

The Green Bay Packers were 3.5-point favorites to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night. It was the third time Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield had visited Lambeau Field in December, but he was starting for different teams. The cold weather did little to stop his wrath from falling on the Packers.

Matt LaFleur had a spotless record in the month of Christmas. But last week, Tommy DeVito and yesterday Mayfield found gaping holes in the Green Bay defense. Tampa dropped 452 overall yards against the Packers, of which 381 were thrown by their quarterback, along with 4 touchdowns from 22 completions.

Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales switched things around quite a bit on the night. It was noticeable that Evans’ fellow wide receiver, Chris Godwin, played more slot-catching than he usually does. It definitely gave Mayfield players wide-open spaces behind the Packers’ secondary.

At the end of the day, this is still new. This is Dave’s first year with us. We’re probably starting to hit our stride. I hope we can keep it going.
Mike Evans told Joe Bucs after the 30-24 win.

Beating the Packers means the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are now at the top of the NFC South with a 7-7 record. They are just outside of the NFC playoff seed behind the Detroit Lions. Next, they will welcome the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars to Raymond James Stadium on Christmas Day.
