Sergio Brown set to face first-degree murder charges on account of his mother’s homicide

Just moments after claiming to be a victim of kidnapping by the Mexican police, NFL safety Sergio Brown was arrested for the alleged murder of his 73-year-old mother. He has been deported from San Diego to Illinois, where he is set to face the charges of first-degree murder and concealment of the dead body.

According to the statement made by the Maywood Police Department to TMZ Sports, the court hearing will begin at 9 AM CT at the Maywood courthouse. The former football player was wearing a Ben Roethlisberger jersey while his mug shot was taken, as claimed by the Maywood Police Department.

Brown had been under police radar for long before the official actions were taken. His mother, Myrtle Brown was found dead on September 16, and the cause of death in the autopsy was found to be homicide. There were speculations that Brown crossed the border to Mexico, as the police were searching for him. Although Brown claimed that he thought his mother was on vacation, his neighbour, Carlos Cortex witnessed him burning his mother’s clothes in a bonfire, after taking them out of the trash. Cortex even had a video proof of his statement that he gave to the police.

The 35-year-old Brown was arrested at a party in Tulum, where he was seen dancing and partying with a bunch of strangers. Police officials from Mexico experienced a lot of incorporation by the former NFL safety during the extradition to bring him back to the United States.

Myrtle’s family demands justice, no contact with Sergio Brown

Sergio Brown is alleged to have killed his mother and got rid of her body near a creek behind her house. A day after her body was found, Brown’s brother went on social media asking for help in finding him, who was missing at that time.

With no whereabouts of the former football player, Maywood police said they found a viral video from social media, showing Brown in a tropical location talking about some ‘fake news‘ and contending that he thought his mother was on vacation. However, it was unclear whether the video was legit or not.

Myrtle’s family made a statement through their attorney Christian Conway, saying there was enough evidence to arrest Sergio. They also stated that they have not made contact with Brown, since his disappearance and the death of Myrtle.
