A cell phone video recently surfaced of former NFL safety Sergio Brown. In the short clip, Brown could be seen yelling and fighting with Mexican police as they tried to extradite him to the USA.
The retired football player can be heard screaming that he was being ‘kidnapped’ by the authorities and taken to Tijuana. “They’re kidnapping me. I’m from Chicago,” Brown shouted at the rest of the passengers. “I should not be going to Tijuana.”
On either side of Brown were two Mexican police personnel serving as his escorts. He kept saying, “Let me go. This is kidnapping.” Lakeside resident Michelle Williams was returning from her vacation in Cancun when she shot the video inside the Aeromexico plane. Williams later told CBS8 that she did not see any handcuffs on Brown.
“It was crazy just to hear him yell that he was being kidnapped,” Williams revealed. “And I’m just thinking, what is going on?”
Why are the authorities looking for Sergio Brown?
The 35-year-old Sergio Brown has been under police radar since his mother, Myrtle Brown, was found dead on September 16. After an autopsy, her death was ruled to be a homicide. But the coroner did not reveal too much. Since then, the police have been searching for Sergio and suspecting that he crossed the border to Mexico.
Their assumption came true when the former Indianapolis Colts player posted a video on social media accusing the authorities of kidnapping him. “They kidnapped me twice from home. The Maywood Police Department,” Brown claimed. “It had to be the FBI or the Maywood police. I thought my f**kin’ momma was on vacation.”
However, his neighbor, Carlos Cortez, saw Sergio Brown taking out trash and burning Myrtle’s clothes in a bonfire. Cortez came forward with his front-door camera footage to prove his claim after Brown’s concerned relatives had come calling.
Just a few days after that, TMZ recovered a video of him partying at Tulum. Brown appeared to be around unknown people and was intoxicated.
According to Sergio Brown’s high school Proviso East records, he was a good student with a 3.2 GPA. Later, he joined Notre Dame and wanted to pursue a career as a wide receiver but switched to playing in defense.
After staying undrafted in 2010, the New England Patriots signed him to the practice squad but waived him off during the final cut. Brown bounced around from the Colts to the Jacksonville Jaguars, then the Atlanta Falcons, and finally the Buffalo Bills.
