Odell Beckham Jr. is still a free agent with almost a month of the free agency being completed. There have been many teams interested in Beckham but none have given any update on their pursuit of the former first-round pick.

Yesterday, it was reported that the Baltimore Ravens have offered him a contract to play for them in 2023. Now, the exact details of the contracts haven’t been made public, but some fans think this move is being made by the team to give Lamar Jackson a reason to stay in Baltimore in the coming season.

However, Undisputed co-host and Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe believes the Ravens offering to sign OBJ might make Jackson leave the team rather than stay in it. “If I’m OBJ, why the hell am I signing with Baltimore and Lamar isn’t under contract? So what happened when I sign there and Lamar Jackson doesn’t sign back? Then what?,” Shannon said.

“Odell wants to go somewhere where the quarterback is proven and is gonna give him an opportunity to catch the football. No disrespect to the backup [quarterback] but he ain’t Lamar. And I’m not sure Odell wants to play with him. I don’t really think that Odell going to Baltimore changes anything in Lamar Jackson’s mind. That just means they got less money to give Lamar.”

Odell Beckham Jr. hasn’t played any games since his Super Bowl LVI ACL injury. However, the Jets, Ravens, and possibly the Rams are interested in making a move for the 30-year-old receiver. Many believe that OBJ is injury prone and they aren’t sure whether paying him $15 million or $20 million a year is worth the money.

The Ravens are pursuing Odell Beckham Jr. and want him in Baltimore for the coming season. However, as Shannon Sharpe said, if they bring him to the team and Lamar Jackson decides to stay on the bench or leave, then that would be a problem for OBJ since he came there only because Jackson was the quarterback.

The New York Jets are in contention, but their wide receiver room is already filled with top players who are young and healthy. It doesn’t seem like a smart move for the Jets to pursue him right now, since they are in the middle of acquiring Aaron Rodgers for quite a while now.

Let’s see what the future has in store for Odell Beckham Jr. because the market isn’t that hot for him right now and his asking price is way too high as per reports.
