“Much better together,” Shannon Sharpe compares BADASS combo of Aaron Rodgers & Davante Adams from their Packers days to their current forms

Aaron Rodgers & Davante Adams

It’s no secret that Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers are having a rough season this year. With 5 losses already in their half-season, this has officially become their worst season in four years. One of the major reasons for this is hinted at the departure of their former WR Davante Adams, who was the center of things in all the recent successes of the Packers group.

And it’s not just the Packers as a team that is suffering. Aaron Rodgers, who was the MVP last year, is looking at the shadow of his legacy. Not that Davante Adams is killing in his game at the Raiders, but it is a clear sign that the Packers shouldn’t have traded him in the first place and should have just paid the man the amount he was asking.

Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless too highlighted this plight on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed in their post-game episode of Week 8. “I’m sure that, that, Davante and Aaron are not having as much fun because Aaron -a-move- you’re looking bad and…Devonte one cat(ch)! Three yards!!-did that-hello, that’s Devonte Adams,” Shannon Sharpe said, clearly frustrated with the famed duo falling from grace this season.

This is true and will be hard to prove wrong if we look at the numbers as well. Aaron Rodgers only has 1800 yards passing, as opposed to over 2000 by other quarterbacks like Mahomes this season so far. And the same has been the case for Davante Adams as well, in some way.

Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless think that it was the soul connection on the field for Aaron Rodgers & Davante Adams’ combined success

A 4-time MVP quarterback and a wide receiver, who was regarded as the best in the league on many occasions, are failing to make an impact for their respective team.

“Yeah, they’re they were better. I don’t know if they realized it at the time skip but they are much better together than they’re ever going to be apart,” Shannon further added on the show of the real tragedy the fans are currently witnessing.

Later on in the episode, Skip Bayless also added his own two cents on the matter by highlighting Adams’ plight. “We both agreed (he was the) best receiver in football last year”.

“It’s sad to me and I’m not a big Aaron fan but I am a Davante fan. Hey, he was indefensible last year. I AM talking about INDEFENSIBLE.”

The connection between AR and Adams on the field was unparalleled and both were finding it hard to find the same in the new setting. Skip elaborated on the same saying,“You could put three on him and Aaron had like such rapport with him, such a soul connection on its only on the football. If it doesn’t last it doesn’t carry over off the field that’s why he left. That’s why (he) left I believe that’s was ‘A’ reason (and) money being probably ‘the’ reason.”

For the last part, Skip Bayless was referring to Adams getting traded by the Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a second-round pick and their first-round pick in 2022. This partially happened due to the Packers putting the franchise tag on him earlier this year and Adams wanted nothing of it.

While Adams might have bagged a good money deal after this deal, his performance cannot be the same. He is failing to create the impact which he was regularly replicating season by season with Rodgers.

“But do you remember how many times Aaron would just flip it over in the direction because, he just knows, yeah, 17’s just going to go get him, he’ll snatch it out of this guy,” some parting words by Skip Bayless on the show. And sadly it does stand true because Adams is finding it hard to click on-field with his best bud Derek Carr, with whom he was ecstatic to play this season.

And not just that Adams has also attracted some unwanted attention this season. He recently shoved a cameraman named Ryan Zebley to the ground while walking toward the tunnel to exit the field. He later apologized to Zebley and claimed frustration over the way the game ended as the cause. He was charged with misdemeanor assault.

Hopefully, both of these players find their groove quickly and start rocking the season again. Currently, Las Vegas Raiders are 4th in AFC West with 2-5, while Green Bay Packers are 2nd in NFC North with 3-5.
