The Baltimore Ravens are one of the teams in the AFC Division. Since the beginning of the season, the Ravens were performing pretty well, as their quarterback, Lamar Jackson, was in great form. After suffering a few injuries in the past years, this season NFL fans witnessed the fittest Jackson since his MVP year in 2019.
The Ravens registered seven wins in nine games and became the second team after the Kansas City Chiefs to do so.
However, that journey came to a halt as the team had a surprising loss against the Cleveland Browns. The Ravens were dominant on the turf from the first minute and did not lose the lead till the final possession of the game. Despite being elegant on the gridiron, they failed to seal it and the Browns emerged victorious in a close encounter.
After seeing the team getting defeated despite having a good game, some analysts are raising eyebrows about the team’s future. Shannon Sharpe is one of them. The former tight-end of the Ravens, in the recent episode of ‘First Take,’ expressed his doubt about his former team and QB Lamar Jackson. He said that he could not trust Jackson after the defeat against the Browns.
I don't do conjecture. I don't do innuendo and I don't do speculation. Those are facts, you can go look them up at your choosing. Lamar Jackson has been up and down, and it's been masked because they're winning. Now that they didn't win, and you see what is happened, it's hard for me to trust him. It is hard for me to trust Lamar, it's hard for me to trust this team.
Surprisingly, Sharpe had upheld Jackson a few days back. However, that thing completely changed after they had a loss against the Browns.
Lamar Jackson has a ‘touchdown’ problem
Jackson is one of the finest quarterbacks in the league and there is hardly any doubt of that. Rushing yards are his strength and he has no match when it comes to rushing with the ball. However, this season is not going completely well for him. He had a ‘fumbling problem,’ and his touchdown numbers are not entirely great.
Keeping an eye on these issues, Sharpe added,
What you can not do is turn the ball over. Do you realize that Lamar Jackson has thrown just as many touchdowns as Mac Jones? Lamar Jackson has fumbled the ball 10 times. ... Do you realize Lamar Jackson has as many turnovers as touchdown passes? But see when we call that stuff out, 'Oh y'all hating, y'all want the narrative, y'all trying to bring a brother down.
Jackson has fumbled the ball overall ten times this season. He has registered ten touchdowns and has five passing touchdowns. Only Joshua Dobbs is ahead of him with 11 fumbles this season.
