Patrick Mahomes is a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. The superstar quarterback who features for the Kansas City Chiefs has guided his team to important wins on innumerable occasions. The world knows that on the field, Mahomes is a fierce competitor who can turn any game on its head at any given time.
Who can really forget his heroics last season. However, an opposing defensive co-ordinator holds a different opinion altogether about Mahomes. As reported by The Athletic, the DC in questions claimed that he is not really a big fan of Patrick Mahomes’ style of play.

Without a doubt, the DC in question has succeeded in ruffling a few feathers. “We love Mahomes because of his unorthodox throws, not because of his natural pocket presence and when that disappears, that is when they lose games,” he stated. Apparently, the DC also reckons that Mahomes should actually be in the Tier-2 QB list instead of Tier-1.
“I don’t think that is a 1. I think that is a 2. Nothing against the guy. I love the kid. But take his first read away and what does he do? He runs, he scrambles and he plays streetball,” he said. Reacting to these comments, Shannon Sharpe had a few things to say on the latest episode of “The Undisputed.”
“How much street ball did Mahomes play in the divisional round game against the Bills? Did they see that? How many quarterbacks in the history of the game could have done what Mahomes did? How much street ball he played when he guided the Chiefs to the Super Bowl,” Sharpe asked.
“This is outrageous. Mahomes never runs just for the sake of running. We didn’t even know he couldn’t run like that before that championship run and we were like hold on, he’s unorthodox, ain’t as smooth as Lamar but he gets touchdowns,” Sharpe stated. He also reminded everyone that Mahomes has played 4 conference championship games, 4 Pro Bowls, has been named the regular season MVP.
“If Patrick Mahomes is not a Tier-1 quarterback, there aren’t any,” he further stated. Indeed, Mahomes is a poster boy of the league. He never gives up and has the ability to make plays under extreme pressure. It will be interesting to see how he performs in the coming season.
