The famed sports personalities Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless worked together on the Fox Network show Undisputed for more than 7 years. The duo recently decided to split back in June. The show is now ready to welcome new guests, replacing the former Denver Broncos tight end Sharpe. Amidst this situation, let’s take a look back at one of the most iconic moments in the show’s history when Sharpe made a cold call to then-Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones to prove Skip wrong regarding Jones’ move to the Dallas Cowboys.

Back during the 2021 off-season, when Jones trade rumors were flying high, Bayless was adamant that the Falcons’ iconic pass catcher wanted to go to Dallas after an image of Jones wearing a Cowboys shirt went viral on social media. However, Sharpe argued that he knew for a fact that Jones didn’t want to go to Dallas.

As the argument went on, Sharpe decided to call Jones directly and ask him about the trade rumors. Sharpe made a cold call to Jones and asked him “Do you want to go to the Cowboys? Or do you want to stay in Atlanta?” To which Jones replied, “Nah, I’m outta there man.”

Jones said that he wants to go to a team with a chance at winning the Championship. Shannon joked that Jones should not go to Dallas if he wants to win a ring. Furthermore, the then-Falcons receiver doubled down on his Dallas take by saying, “Nah nah, I ain’t going to Dallas, man,” Jones said. “I never thought about going to Dallas.”

Fox Sports and Shannon Sharpe faced backlash over Julio Jones’ cold-call

Back in 2021, Shannon Sharpe, Skip Bayless, and their show Undisputed received a lot more attention than usual after Sharpe’s cold call to Julio Jones went viral on social media.

It was later revealed that Jones had no idea he was on air during the first few seconds of the call and the Falcons were reportedly disappointed since his call could’ve ruined Jones’ trade value.

In the end, Sharpe didn’t face any serious issues over the cold call and the network would’ve certainly felt glad escaping the stunt without a big issue as the show gained a lot of exposure because of that segment.

In the end, Julio Jones left the Falcons in the 2021 off-season as he wanted and joined the Tennessee Titans. But his tenure in Tennessee wasn’t great which led to him joining Tom Brady at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2022 off-season in hopes of a Super Bowl ring. His stint with the Bucs also didn’t go as planned due to injuries. He is currently looking for a new home in free agency.
