Skip and Shannon: Undisputed was one of the best sports shows in the world. Hosts Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless seemed to be the perfect debate partnership for many years. However, cracks started to develop between the two as personal remarks were hurled back and forth. During a segment regarding former NFL quarterback Tom Brady, Bayless made a personal comment on Sharpe, which wasn’t appreciated by the Hall of Fame TE.
Sharpe left Undisputed earlier this year and joined ESPN’s show First Take with Stephen A. Smith, another popular sports analyst. He recently made an appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show where he dissected his relationship with Bayless and also talked about that infamous incident that partly led to him leaving the show.
“I felt in that moment he had lost all respect for me, he had no respect for me. He had no respect for me,” Sharpe said on the show. “It really, really hurt me.” He further continued by saying, “Why would I be jealous of Tom Brady? Tom was like me, given an opportunity. He made the most of that opportunity.” Sharpe concluded by saying, “It took a lot for me to not put my hands on him. It actually did.”
Sharpe and Bayless co-hosted the Undisputed show for seven years. They had numerous great moments together. Sharpe was replaced by Richard Sherman, Michael Irvin and Keyshawn Johnson on the Undisputed show while Sharpe joined ESPN with Stephen A. Smith.
Shannon Sharpe’s appearances on First Take cause a surge in the show’s ratings
Shannon Sharpe recently joined ESPN’s show First Take with Stephen A. Smith after ending his seven-year-long association with the Fox Sports earlier this year. His appearances on the show have a caused a huge surge in ratings as First Take has dominated Undisputed through two weeks of NFL action.

According to reports from Sports TV Ratings, after Aaron Rodgers‘ season-ending injury on MNF, First Take drew 717,000 viewers while Undisputed only drew 118,000 viewers. This trend continued after week 2 as First Take’s Monday viewership count was 726,000 viewers whereas Undisputed only drew 162,000 viewers.
Sharpe appears twice a week on the show. He ended his association with former debate partner Skip Bayless after the 2023 NBA Finals. Since then, he has taken his talents to ESPN, whereas his podcast, Club Shay Shay, is now a part of Colin Cowherd‘s podcast network, The Volume.
