The NFL offseason is witnessing a lot of surprising deals. In that trend, Tee Higgins, one of the pillars of the Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive attack has asked for a trade ahead of the 2024-25 season. The wide receiver was reportedly disappointed with the Bengals and hence asked to be traded. The development came after the Bengals put a franchise tag on him.
Following this, a lot of discussions are doing rounds regarding the next landing spot of the WR. Higgins is a successful wide receiver, who contributed a lot to the team’s cause. Hence, it is certain that the WR will receive a lot of interest from other teams.
In this present context, Shannon Sharpe recently said that the Kansas City Chiefs need to go after the WR, during a recent episode of the ESPN show First Take. The Chiefs have played without a star WR since Tyreek Hill left the team in 2022. Last season, the Chiefs struggled a lot without a number 1 receiver for Patrick Mahomes. They are expected to add one in this off-season.
As soon as they won the Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs should have been on the phone with the Bengals trying to acquire his services. Because he is the number one receiver. The Bengals can't pay him because they have Ja'Marr Chase on the contract. . . Kansas City needs Tee Higgins. . . Can you imagine him with Patrick Mahomes?. . . If I was the Kansas City Chiefs, I would definitely be on the phone with the Cincinnati Bengals asking what it would take to get his servicesShannon Sharpe said
Shannon Sharpe addressed the financial situation of the WR
Amid all the concerns doing rounds on social media, a question is confusing the analysts what triggered Tee Higgins to leave the Cincinnati Bengals? He had a great understanding with the likes of Joe Burrow and his fellow receiver Ja’Marr Chase. So, what motivated him for the departure?
Sharpe believes it was the financial situation. Higgins might have asked for a long-term contract that the Bengals would not have been able to provide. For Sharpe, Higgins could not play with a one-year deal with a $20 million contract. He might’ve asked for more, which the Bengals failed to provide. Sharpe speculated that might’ve led to Higgins asking for a trade.
Sharpe further argued that he would be a perfect choice for the Chiefs. The Chiefs are presently the best team in the league and they have recently re-signed their star DT Chris Jones. If they manage to get Higgins then the team could be unstoppable in the upcoming season.
