Shaquil Barrett (Shaq Barrett) wants to be the first player to win Super Bowls with three different teams. His first ring came during his second year in the league while playing for the Denver Broncos (2015).

It took Barrett four more seasons to enjoy post-season football and his second ring. After his contract with the Broncos ran out, he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019, and a year later, he won another Super Bowl alongside Tom Brady.

Barrett stayed in Florida for three more years until the Buccaneers decided to part ways before his $15.04 million option bonus became active. The 31-year-old recorded 53 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one interception with a 75.3 overall grade from PFF and an 84.5 pass-rushing mark. Although the Bucs managed to extend both Mike Evans and Baker Mayfield‘s contracts, Barrett was released.

Up stepped the Miami Dolphins, who offered Barrett a one-year deal. While both parties are still figuring out the details of the contract, the two-time Pro Bowler gave an exclusive interview to the Dolphins YouTube channel and said he wants to win another Super Bowl.

I like the potential of being a Super Bowl champion. I think this team has that potential for sure.

Only one player has ever come close to winning the Super Bowl with three different teams. Former NFL linebacker Matt Millen won four Super Bowls in his career, twice with the Las Vegas Raiders (Oakland Raiders) and one each with the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Commanders (Washington Redskins). However, he wasn’t part of the active roster for Washington, so it doesn’t count.

Shaq Barrett wasn’t happy to be cut by the Buccaneers

Although the Buccaneers saved around $3 million by avoiding the post-June 1 release of Barrett, the Baltimore native was not too keen on leaving the team. During his first press conference as a Miami Dolphins player, he revealed that the Bucs made a mistake by letting him go.

The Dolphins are going to be happy they signed me. Tampa [Bay Buccaneers] is going to be mad that they let me go because this year [the 2024 season] that I'm planning on having and the success that we're about to have.

During his decade-long career, Barrett has completed 400 successful tackles. He notched up 59 sacks, 3 interceptions, 18 pass deflections, 22 forced fumbles, and 2 forced recoveries.
