Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes proved they can talk the talk and walk the walk after their 45-42 win against the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday. They shocked the college football world and created a few historic records.
What a difference a couple of months and a new head coach can make for a team! Last year, TCU went 13-2 overall and reached the CFP National Championship, while Colorado was flailing with a 1-11 record.
Everything changed for the Buffaloes when Hall of Famer Deion Sanders took charge and brought in 50 players with him during the offseason. Despite criticism from a section of the media, the retired football player warned that he was here to stay and win.
They definitely started with a bang yesterday, and one of the players who starred in the match was his own kin, Shedeur Sanders. Sanders transferred from Jackson State to the Colorado program and was named the starting quarterback.
And what an unbelievable debut it was for the 21-year-old! Sanders answered his father’s critics by completing 38 out of 47 passes, scoring four touchdowns, and making no interceptions while becoming the first-ever Colorado Buffaloes quarterback to achieve 500 passing yards in one game. Moreover, he helped multiple teammates eclipse 100 receiving yards.

After yesterday’s outstanding performance, fans are calling for Shedeur Sanders to be one of the contenders for the 2023 Heisman Trophy. If he manages to keep the consistency, then who knows? He may challenge Caleb Williams for the Best College Football Player award or perhaps replace him as the future No. 1 Draft pick.
Sanders was on course to even touch 600 yards. But there were several turnovers and fumbles from his receivers, who gave away nearly 150 yards. But he had forgotten all about it when the referee blew his whistle. He took a snap and edged his name into the college football record books.
As fans pointed out in the comment section, it will be a fun duel between Shedeur Sanders and Caleb Williams when the Buffaloes meet the USC Trojans on September 30.
