The popular sports talk media duo Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe of Undisputed recently split after Sharpe agreed to a buyout deal with Fox Sports back in May. Sharpe had an emotional exit from the network following the NBA Finals that concluded in June. Fox Network is working to find a replacement for Sharpe.
Amidst this, the renowned NFL analyst Skip Bayless is set to take a two-month break from the show Undisputed since it is taking longer for the network to find a replacement for the former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe. On Wednesday, Bayless posted on social media that Undisputed will be off air for nearly two months and will return on August 28.
“LeBron isn’t the only one in the lab this summer. Can’t wait to unveil ‘Undisputed’ just in time for football season,” tweeted Bayless. The long and unexpected break, especially at the peak of the NBA off-season, has shocked many fans, but it seems like the network is struggling with finding Sharpe’s replacement.
“Shannon’s exit moved way faster than they expected. So they had no choice but to go on hiatus,” said one source, according to Front Office Sports. “Skip has never done anything like this during all his years at FS1 or ESPN. Not being on the air during all these NBA moves is killing him.”
Till now, the former Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is the front-runner to replace Shannon. There are also reports suggesting that Bayless could change the format of the show and have rotating guests like the ESPN show First Take.
Shannon Sharpe expected to join ESPN

Shannon Sharpe’s parents are Pete Sharpe and Mary Alice Dixon and is one of the top names in the sports media world. He recently left Fox Network and is currently a free agent. Sharpe is expected to join the ESPN network as Steve Young‘s replacement.
The prominent sports media network ESPN recently fired 20 of its top air personality as a part of their mass layoffs. Many big names, including Max Kellerman, Keyshawn Johnson, and Steve Young, got the axe a few days ago.
Amidst this, experts predict, ESPN will end up bagging Shannon Sharpe to replace Steve Young on Monday Night Football. If he ends up signing with ESPN, he will also be a regular on Stephen A. Smith‘s First Take.
ESPN has already roped in The Pat McAfee Show for a massive fee and now if they end up getting Sharpe, the gap between them and other sports networks will widen by a long range.
