Dallas Cowboys broke two of their records with their win against Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football. First, they won their first road playoff game since 1992, when they defeated the 49ers in the NFC Championship game to win their first Super Bowl. Second, they broke Tom Brady’s 7-0 undefeated streak against them.

While these were the two records the Cowboys will celebrate till the next week, they also have one unfortunate one to ponder upon. That’s right! Brett Maher, the Cowboys kicker, became the first player in NFL history to miss four extra points in a single game. The previous record was of three missed extra points and was shared by nine players.

Every Dallas fan’s blood was boiling, seeing Maher kick the ball everywhere but between the upright. Dak Prescott was visibly frustrated with Brett Maher and was captured saying go for f**king two on the sideline as he threw his helmet to the ground. Fans demanded owner Jerry Jones to fire him because what good is a kicker if he can’t kick? However, Jones said he won’t replace the kicker.

Skip Bayless says kicking is unfair to players

Skip Bayless, a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan was also angry with Brett Maher for missing not one, not two, but four extra points. Lucky for Maher that everyone but him was at the top of their game and Dallas had a solid lead the entire game and Tom Brady couldn’t make a comeback, otherwise it was goodbye for the 33-year-old kicker.

While talking about the game on Undisputed, Skip Bayless said that he wishes kicking to be permanently removed from the game. “On my show, I did a video a couple of weeks back about my pettish peeve about your [Shannon Sharpe] game. I despise kickers and field goal kicking,” Skip said. “Not them personally just it. Because it’s so unfair to your (players) game. The game that you play at the highest level.”

Skip went on to say that players on either side of the scrimmage line give their blood and sweat and fight it out on the field for over an hour only to lose the game because a “little former soccer player” holds the power to make or break the game. “I have advocated for years to abolish kicking, but they are not gonna do it because it’s wildly exciting for all the wrong reasons,” Skip added.

Bayless’s argument does have a valid point. On many occasions throughout the years, a field goal or an extra point has changed the tide of the game of teams. But kicking is an integral part of the game and it can’t be changed because it does add a bit of drama to the sport. Anyway, what will be interesting to see is whether the Cowboys use Brett Maher as the kicker against the 49ers on Sunday or not.
