“Jalen Hurts outplayed Mahomes,” Skip Bayless BOLDLY claims the Eagles QB should’ve been the Super Bowl MVP over Patrick Mahomes despite the loss

The Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes led his team to a Super Bowl victory against Nick Sirianni‘s Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. For his contributions, the Chiefs quarterback Mahomes was named the Super Bowl MVP. However, many people, including the Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless, believe that the Eagles QB Jalen Hurts should’ve won the Super Bowl MVP award over Mahomes despite the loss.
During a recent episode of his show UNDISPUTED with Shannon Sharpe, Skip Bayless said that the Eagles QB should’ve been the first losing quarterback in Super Bowl to win the prestigious MVP award. “He had a way better game than Patrick Mahomes,” said Bayless in a recent episode of his show. “On degree of difficulty, I think you [Shannon Sharpe] would agree, Kansas City’s defense is better than Philadelphia’s defense, so on degree of difficulty, scale of 1 to 10, I’m gonna put Jalen’s at an 8 and I’m gonna put Patrick’s last night at 3.”
Shannon Sharpe was quick to add that the Chiefs’ defense is not a better unit than the Eagles’ defensive unit. However, Skip continued his point by mentioning what Hurts accomplished in the game. “So what did Jalen Hurts accomplish last night,” began Bayless before mentioning the stats. “I said he needed to convert 10-of-15 third downs and he converted 11-of-18, he is a magician on third downs.”

Fox Sports commentator Skip Bayless claims that Jalen Hurts plays conventional football but gets the job done and also mentioned how the Eagles’ All-Pro QB set a Super Bowl record for rushing by rushing for 70 yards.
“The two response drives by Jalen Hurts last night were legendary,” said Bayless. “Because after he fumbles, he comes right back and goes 75 yards in 12 plays and he said give me the damn ball because I’m not gonna fumble again.”
“That was all-time great Jalen Hurts, so he throws for 304 yards to 182 for Patrick, he runs for three touchdowns and threw for another 45-yard touchdown, nobody in the history of the game ever had that combination of 3 rushing and 1 throwing touchdown,” said Bayless. “Jalen Hurts outplayed Mahomes and did something no QB had ever done against a good Kansas City defense.”
Even though Bayless makes some good points, Jalen Hurts failed to do the most important thing, i.e., win the game. If the former Patriots QB Tom Brady‘s 505 passing yards and 3 passing TDs performance at Super Bowl 52 didn’t warrant an MVP award, then it is tough to make a case for the Eagles QB.
