Just a few days ago Jalen Hurts became the highest-paid NFL player ever after signing a 5-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles worth up to $255 million including more than $179 million in guaranteed money. Following the historic contract extension, the Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless claims the NFL teams now desire to have a Black QB representing their team.
During a recent episode in the Fox Sports show UNDISPUTED, the long-time analyst Skip Bayless claims NFL has made amazing progress when it comes to Black quarterbacks.
“Here’s where we are at today, I’m looking at Top paid quarterbacks in the National Football League in total value of their deals and I’m saying, wait a second, 6 out of 7 top QBs are Black QBs,” said Bayless. “This is huge progress. It is not only commonplace but desirable to have a Black QB now.”
Bayless went on to mention how the Top 3 QB prospects in the 2023 Draft class are also Black quarterbacks. Bayless claims the league has made good progress throughout its history by pointing out the Black QBs selected as the first signal-callers in the NFL Draft process throughout the years including Michael Vick and Cam Newton.
Skip Bayless was disgusted when the Eagles drafted Jalen Hurts
When the Philadelphia Eagles selected Jalen Hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, even the Eagles fans were questioning their team’s selection since they already had Carson Wentz as their quarterback.
As it turned out the Eagles made a smart decision to select Hurts since he led them all the way to a Super Bowl. Furthermore, he just signed a 5-year deal with the Eagles worth up to $255 million which makes him the highest-paid NFL Player ever.
However, there was one guy who always believed in Hurts becoming a franchise QB in the NFL. It is none other than the long-time Dallas Cowboys fan Skip Bayless. In 2020, he claimed he was disgusted to see the talented Jalen Hurts getting drafted by his arch-rivals.
“I don’t like the Eagles and I despise the fact that a quarterback I love in Jalen Hurts is now an Eagle. I just can’t stand the thought of it because I told you from the start,” said Bayless. “He is good enough to carry a team to the playoffs on his leadership and tangibles and his playmaking and simply his killer will because he will put a team on his back.”
Well, it seems like Bayless and the Eagles GM Howie Roseman are both right on their predictions. The Eagles just widened their Super Bowl window by extending Jalen Hurts for five more years.
