The 2023 NFL season marked the debut of two rookie quarterbacks C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young. Stroud went to the Houston Texans while Young joined the Carolina Panthers. However, both of them did not have the same trajectory this season despite gaining the starting QB jobs.
While Stroud’s heroics have put him in the discussion as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, his fellow Draft year colleague Bryce Young is suffering brutally.
However, the Young got much-needed support from one of the veteran analysts and his name is Skip Bayless. Bayless, from one of the episodes of his show ‘Undisputed’, openly claimed that Young does not have the necessary support from his teammates and this is where he is lagging.
Okay, I will be the first to admit that I only watch CJ on television. I did not see a consistent level of this kind of play of high-stakes. Big time and then I some mediocre from him. It came and it went.
He further added:
You can make things too stressful because it went in games. Whatever, I did not see this. I don't know whether anyone saw that.
He compared the situation with Stroud and said that the Texans rookie has got all the things from his teammates that were needed to grow at a stage like the NFL.
Skip Bayless predicts a long NFL career for Bryce Young
Amid the poor form and everything else, Bayless believes that Young’s career will last long in the NFL. The veteran was one of the most important faces who was delighted with Young becoming the overall No.1 pick and he still believes that the rookie has a bright future ahead.
I thought Bryce Young would be a leader but only a little better than CJ. So I was with Bryce Young's number one overall pick and I still stand by that. I will still say he is going to have a very good NFL career.
After that, Bayless picked his ultimate line. Compared the two in terms of the team that they got and cleared his result. The veteran noted,
He does not have quite the weapons that even CJ has. He does not have the offensive line that CJ has and surely he does not have (Devin) Singletary who will run for 150 yards.
So far, Young has been a disappointment for his team. He failed to give the momentum and the Carolina Panthers have now moved on to a 1-8 record. It is to be seen whether he makes a staunch comeback next season.
