Skip Bayless expresses deep concern over the direction in which the Philadelphia Eagles offense is headed towards
The Philadelphia Eagles are currently first in the NFC East table.

The Philadelphia Eagles remain the best team in the NFL through week 8 as they have just lost one game so far. The team led by Jalen Hurts are playing on full throttle and from the looks of it, is going to the Super Bowl for the second straight year. While Philly has been playing great football across the board, Skip Bayless of Undisputed on FS1 begs to differ.
The analyst acknowledged that the Eagles have a good record but despite that, he sees a worrisome trend that may bite them in the future. He said:
Philadelphia should be concerned about where their offense is going because it is not last year's offense.
The analyst then proceeded to justify this statement by providing some context in the form of statistics.
Bayless pointed out the number of receptions by DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, the top wideouts of the team:
(DeVonta) caught 95 balls last year and A.J. (Brown) caught 88. So far this year, A.J.'s caught 60 balls and DeVonta only 30 balls.
While that may seem to be a drastic drop off, please note that there are still 8 games that remain so a lot can change but on this pace, the odds are the wideouts may end up with lesser receptions this season.
Skip Bayless believes the Philadelphia Eagles are having an identity crisis
Skip Bayless goes on to address the Eagles rushing game by comparing their stats last season to this season. Speaking about the same, he said:
Last year the Philadelphia Eagles led the NFL in rushing, they have now fallen to 7th...last year they rushed it 12 more times in the regular season than they threw it. This year so far they have thrown 25 more passes than they have run the football.

The analyst views these numbers as disturbing because to him it signifies that the Philadelphia Eagles are moving away from their previous season’s offensive philosophy of wanting to run the ball more. Despite the team’s decision to rely more on the pass game, their top receivers are still not getting as many targets as they should be.

This leaves the team in the midst of wanting to pass the ball more but not being able to do it effectively and reducing their reliance upon the run game which limits their options offensively. Skip believes this will result in the Eagles having an identity crisis, the team’s offense will not be as balanced as it was and this in turn will give defenses an advantage. Despite what the numbers say, the Eagles are still rolling this season. Jalen Hurts & Co. look hungrier than ever and this time, they do not just want to show up to the Super Bowl but they intend to leave with a shiny trophy in their hands.
