Mike McCarthy is staying! Setting all the speculations aside, Jerry Jones, the veteran billionaire owner of the Dallas Cowboys, decided to go with McCarthy for the latter’s fifth straight season. It was a decision that shook the fans and analysts who desperately wanted McCarthy to go.

I believe this team is very close and capable of achieving our ultimate goals and the best step forward for us will be with Mike McCarthy as our head coach. There is great benefit to continuing the team's progress under Mike's leadership as our head coach.

This has certainly disappointed a lot of analysts. Among them, Skip Bayless took the issue to Twitter and exhibited his frustration.

His first tweet depicted the most raw version of his emotions, where the veteran wrote a big ‘Noooooooo.’ He seemed a bit rational in his second tweet, where he questioned the decision of Jerry Jones to retain his head coach for the latter’s fifth season.

Bayless was one of them to call McCarthy out after the Cowboys’ humiliating loss against the Packers in the playoffs. It was one of the biggest upsets for the Cowboys as well as for the enthusiasts. No one expected that the Cowboys would have a much better squad than the Packers.

Multiple analysts predicted that the Packers’ defense was not equipped enough to beat the Cowboys’ offense. Proving all the forecasts wrong, the Packers humbled the Cowboys at the latter’s home where they had an invincible record.

Jerry Jones also held himself responsible for the loss

When the speculations regarding McCarthy’s future started popping up, Jerry Jones kept himself silent. He did not utter a single word about whether he would be going to sack him.

It was the players who stood for McCarthy and extended their support for the head coach.

A few days later, Jones opened himself up regarding his plans. He announced that McCarthy would be the head coach for the Cowboys. While giving his speech, the veteran also held himself responsible for the loss of his team in the playoffs. He declared that it was not McCarthy alone who was to be held guilty.

Our loss on Sunday is shared by everyone here, not just Coach McCarthy. Our players. Our coaches. Our front office. Myself. There is accountability for our results. I am accountable for our results. The lens we use to view and evaluate Coach McCarthy is holistic.
Jones said in Wednesday’s statement.

While McCarthy shares a poor playoff record, his performance in regular seasons is really good. The head coach has a 42-25 record and is expected to improve it.
