Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots parted ways after the end of the regular season. The six-time Super Bowl champion with the team experienced some horrible seasons after the departure of Tom Brady. As a result of that, the Patriots decided to move on from their legendary head coach.
Belichick was expected to get a job somewhere in the league. However, the legendary head coach failed to find himself another job for next season and will enter the 2024 season as a free agent, barring any major changes in the league. Belichick recently thanked the Patriots fans for their support in a long ‘thank you letter.’

Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless, however, accused Belichick of being smug and condescending during his time with the Patriots. He reflected on Belichick’s career in New England as the former Patriots’ HC expressed his feelings towards the organization and the fans.
It came off as poignant, to the point of being a little sad--I wished he had given more of this back to the fans all those years when he led this league in arrogance... He was smug, condescending, and above it all, until now.Bayless via the latest episode of the Undisputed show
Belichick joined the Patriots back in 2000. In his 23 years with the team, Belichick won six Super Bowls and established himself as one of the league’s greatest-ever coaches.
Bill Belichick thanks the New England Patriots fans in an emotional note
With the Patriots organization ushering in a new era under Jerod Mayo, the changing of the guard in New England is complete. Bill Belichick led the Patriots to six Super Bowl titles and nine appearances during his 24 years as head coach. The two parties mutually parted ways last month.

In a farewell letter to the Patriots supporters, the renowned coach took out a full page in Sunday’s Boston Globe to express his gratitude to them for their support during his two decades as head coach.
Nowhere in America are pro sports fans as passionate as in New England and for 24 years. I was blessed to feel your passion and power. The Patriots are the only NFL team representing SIX states but in reality, Patriots Nation knows no borders.Belichick wrote
He further wrote,
You traveled from coast to coast and internationally. Numerous times, you overtook opposing stadiums and were the last fans standing. We loved it! You gave your precious time, resources, and energy to our team. We appreciated it!
After his departure from the Patriots, Belichick had 296 career victories as a head coach, second only to George Halas of the Bears (324). Belichick has a chance to pass Halas in a few more seasons, but he would need to do it while coaching a different team.
