Amid tough times, Joe Burrow has finally got someone’s back and that person is no one but Skip Bayless who is infamous for criticizing players. His shrewd but well-thought remarks about top-notch footballers often attract media space, but this time he did something opposite. When the world admonished Burrow for his form and the money he was getting; he took his side. Denouncing everyone, the veteran analyst said that Burrow after coming back from injury would make everyone look foolish. Burrow certainly needed this support.
The veteran was loud and clear to extend his support for the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback. He took the issue on Twitter and wrote, “Keep receipts on everyone writing off Joe Burrow as “overpaid.” When he gets healthy, he will make them all look stupid.”
This offseason, the quarterback signed a mammoth deal with the Bengals. With a $ 275 million contract, he is now the highest-paid quarterback in the league. The player hardly had any idea that this amount would backfire on him this season and people would criticize him for the money he is getting. Burton is nowhere close to his form. He is ‘limping.’
Both literally and metaphorically. He has two battles to fight, one with his form and another one with his ongoing saga of injuries. Multiple analysts expressed their views that the player needs to be benched as he is one of the worst this season. He has less touchdown numbers than Zach Wilson. He was intercepted multiple times. Among four matches, he went without a touchdown in three. In this present context, a lot of people raised their fingers at Burrow, claiming that the guy needs to be benched and the Bengals made a bad monetary deal.
The real reason behind Joe Burrow’s abysmal performance
Burrow would not have been this much impacted if it was not for injuries. His hard luck compelled him to suffer injuries not once, but twice.
The first setback occurred in the team’s training session where he injured his calf and went out of the field for some months. He missed the team’s preseason and training games which had a clear impact on his performance. He is suffering from a lack of chemistry. ‘
The second came in the second match of the season where re-injured his calf. Despite being injured he continued playing games in the season and failed to create any impact. The team management needs to have a discussion with Joe as this can not be continued. If his injury is serious then the player needs to be rested.
