After a two-month hiatus, a new chapter of Undisputed kicked off on Monday. Skip Bayless welcomed his ‘Dream Team’ of Richard Sherman, Keyshawn Johnson, and Michael Irvin.
The show started with Skip welcoming the audience with every fiber of his being. By the looks of it, the veteran analyst was pumped to turn over a new page. But as the show progressed amidst all the fiery takes, the 71-year-old became increasingly frustrated.
During their debate about Trey Lance‘s trade to the Dallas Cowboys, the greatest team-up since the Avengers was arguing amongst themselves, and Skip wasn’t able to intervene. Irvine took over the debate, as he was not able to speak much because of his recent controversies.
Audiences who tuned in to watch the Sharpe-less Undisputed joked that Bayless wouldn’t keep the lineup for long if he wasn’t even allowed to speak. Few pointed out that it was the first time in 70 years that Skip Bayless hadn’t spoken a word.
Fans joke about Skip Bayless’ futile efforts to talk during the return of Undisputed
Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe were an iconic duo. They completed and competed against each other in every word. That’s what the audience loved the most about Undisputed. However, Sharpe’s departure put a question mark on the show. Tuning into FOX and seeing the two go at each other had become second nature for most sports lovers. Bayless looked out of place in his backyard yesterday. His frustration was as clear as daylight, and it reached the audience as well.
The crack in the relationship between Sharpe and Bayless was nothing new. Both of them were at each other’s throats most of the time, and it escalated after Bayless shared a tweet about Damar Hamlin‘s injury that the Super Bowl winner did not like.
They called it quits in June, after the NBA Finals. Since then, speculations about Sharpe teaming up with Stephen A. Smith have been doing the rounds on social media.
Last week, Stephen A. announced that ESPN First Take would be Shannon Sharpe’s new home. He will make his first appearance on the show on September 4.
