Joe Burrow made every Cincinnati Bengals fan happy when he recently said that he wishes to play his entire NFL career with the Bengals. Within a short amount of time, the former LSU quarterback has managed to impress almost everyone in the league with his exceptional performance under the center.

Burrow’s rookie season was cut short due to an injury, but he bounced back harder in his second season and led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990 and their third Super Bowl appearance.

The 2022 season has been great for Cincinnati since Burrow has been consistent during the entire regular season. However, the issue that plagued the Bengals last year has followed them into this season as well – a weak offensive line. Like last year, the young quarterback was not well protected, which cost them important plays. But Joe has been able to avoid the pass rushers as he’s quick on his feet.

ESPN’s Most Valuable Players list has sparked a lot of debate around the league. And Skip Bayless has joined in the conversation as he disagrees with the list on Undisputed. The top 5 of the list include – Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, and Justin Jefferson. It’s already been revealed that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the 2022 league MVP. So, there’s no doubt that he deserves the first position. But Bayless feels that Joe Burrow should’ve been higher on the list than Mahomes.

“Joe Burrow is the best quarterback in the National Football League,” Skip said. “I can’t make a case for MVP because I can’t do with stats cause his stats were off this year as was his offensive line.” The Bengals O-line finished 30th in pass block win rate and were 32nd last year. So, not much has changed there. They also lost three of their O-line starters over the last three weeks.

Joe Burrow has faced Patrick Mahomes three times in his career and won all of those matchups. Skip added, “He (Burrow) threw 8 TDs to 1 pick and Mahomes was 6 TDs and 2 picks. So, he’s slightly outplayed him. Patrick is very good. I got no problem with him being very high on this list. I just think Joe Burrow plays quarterback more cleanly and efficiently and effectively than I see Patrick Mahomes at quarterback.”

Skip argued that last year Joe Burrow was the most sacked quarterback in the regular as well as the postseason and still managed to lift the Bengals to the Super Bowl and was one play shy from defeating the Los Angeles Rams and winning the Super Bowl. It does speak volumes to Burrow’s greatest as a signal-caller without having a safe pocket to throw darts all the way down the field which Mahomes has.

Dominating in the regular season is good, but playoffs are the real battlefield where the mettle of a quarterback is tested. Both Mahomes and Burrow are unmatched in the playoffs, so it’ll be interesting to see if the two face each other in the AFC Championship once again or not and who emerges as the better one.
