Last Tuesday, Julio Jones, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. After the team suffered an ugly loss against the New York Jets, Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman added an offensive weapon, in the form of Jones, to their team.

Jones joined as the third wide receiver for the Eagles, succeeding his former Titans teammates A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith. This marks the fourth team for the 7-time Pro Bowl receiver in as many years.

Roseman sees this decision as a strategic move by the Eagles toward securing a playoff appearance. However, Skip Bayless, the host of Undisputed and a devoted Cowboys fan, has a different perspective. While discussing Jones joining the Eagles, Bayless mentioned that he was a fan of Julio when Tom Brady recruited him in Tampa. However, Bayless noted that Julio began making excuses that raised concerns.

He said, “I was great with that until Julio started pulling it la*e. He was tightly wound..it seemed like he was always pulling something, usually his hamstring. He just couldn’t get and stay right last year, and stay healthy. He started looking like shell of shelf, and it was hard on my eye because I was pulling for them and for him. And he just couldn’t produce remotely at the level he used to produce at.“

Bayless further explained that Julio played in five games, and his standout performance came during a playoff loss against the Cowboys. In that game, he had seven catches for 74 yards, with Brady targeting him 11 times. However, despite his efforts, his team fell behind by 17 points, and the Cowboys won 31-14.

The Undisputed host concluded his point by saying, “It was a little bit misleading what those stats were, even in his best game of the year. So I’m not sure how much he has in the tank.”

Bayless emphasized a major concern about whether Julio would stay completely healthy or not because if he did so, he still had some potential left. According to Bayless, Julio “still got a lot of superstars left” in him.

Why did Roseman trade for Julio Jones?

Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts had the most awful performance of his career in the game against the Jets, as he threw several interceptions in a single game. Because of this and many more mistakes by the team, the Eagles fell to a record of 5-1. This is why, Roseman decided to sign Jones into the team to build a strong offense.

Eagles fans, on the other hand, are not quite happy with this decision by Roseman. Many think the wide receiver is not in his prime years anymore, and he is way past them. He cannot be considered an offensive weapon that would threaten the opponent’s defenses. Fans agreed with Bayless when he expressed his doubt that the addition of Julio to the Eagles would benefit in a bigger sense.
