The Baltimore Ravens recently signed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on a one-year multi-million dollar deal. Beckham Jr. will be making around $18 million in a year considering all incentives and bonuses.

The free agent played for Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns, and the New York Giants. Earlier it had been reported that Odell Beckham Jr. was looking for a deal upwards of $15 million. He currently has a base salary of $1.165 million along with a signing bonus of $13,835 as well as $3 million in incentive offers. This takes it up to a grand total of $18 million given that he can achieve all the terms and conditions for the incentives.

There has been a cloud of doubt over whether quarterback Lamar Jackson will be staying at the Baltimore Ravens for the next season and it seems like the arrival of OBJ will answer some of those questions. Additionally, the two of them were also recently spotted at a Miami club on Sunday night celebrating becoming teammates. If the signing of Odell Beckham Jr. is able to keep the likes of Lamar Jackson, then it is definitely money well invested as the two have the quality to bring in a Super Bowl.

NFL analyst and pundit Skip Bayless has recently talked about the Baltimore Ravens signing up Odell Beckham Jr. Bayless said that it seemed that this was a desperate move by the Baltimore Ravens that was done to distract the audience from their significant problems.

“I never thought I’d put Ravens and desperate in the same sentence but I’m doing it now. This was a desperate move that in the short term could be brilliant. I’m gonna use the magician’s analogy here because it is called slide of hand because what you do is with your right hand you go way up here so you can distract the audience and with your left hand you can trick your audience. The Ravens are trying to trick you with $15 million!”, said Bayless.

Bayless had earlier talked about the Ravens wasting so much money on OBJ as well. Bayless termed this deal as something teams do on the first day of free agency when they are unsure of whom to sign.

“This is the kind of deal you get on the opening day of free agency when you’re not sure what’s out there, and you just plunge, ‘We gotta get Odell for Lamar!’ That was a long time ago. The market settled, it cooled, and it started to reveal itself. I don’t know that anybody else was even in the ballpark of giving Odell Beckham Jr. $15 million guaranteed. Are you kidding? … I thought Odell was gonna have to go somewhere on a make-good contract that may be in the end — with a lot of impossible-to-attain incentives — might’ve gotten him close to $18 million. This has put the ball back in Lamar’s court,” Bayless said as well.
