Skip Bayless believes that Deion Sanders has become the face of college football. There’s a reason behind that massive claim. Since the retired running back became the head coach of the 18th-place Colorado Buffaloes, their fortune has turned for good. On top of that, he continues to prove the doubters wrong by beating tough opponents against whom they would have tasted defeat in the past.
A Deion Sanders admirer since his Dallas Cowboys days, Bayless claims that his world now revolves around the Colorado Buffaloes. Even the veteran broadcaster’s wife couldn’t stay away from the charm of Prime Time. According to a recent episode of his YouTube podcast, where his words are more candid, he disclosed the effects of Buffsmania at his house.
““I’m here to tell you that my Saturday life now revolves around Colorado games,” Bayless said. Then he mentions his wife. “My wife Ernestine says, ‘Well, what time is the Colorado game this Saturday? Well, it’s at 3:30 Eastern. Okay, we’ve gotta mark that off.’ Start to finish, my world revolves around Colorado football.”
Then he proclaimed that the college football scene is buzzing because of Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes. “Colorado football is the center of the universe; it’s not the center; it’s the epicenter of the sports universe,” Skip Bayless continued. “This is the biggest story in sports. This is on its way to being ‘the most amazing story’ in sports history. And I don’t believe I’m overstating.”

One thing is for sure: wherever Coach Prime goes, the spotlight sticks to him like glue. His Colorado move late last year raised quite a few eyebrows. Most were left scratching their heads as to why he would join a team that went 1-11 last season. Furthermore, he recruited more than 60 players through the college transfer policy. Basically, the entire first team, apart from a few scholarship players, is new to the program. The media did not waste any time branding them as one of the favorites to bite the dust this season.
However, Deion Sanders remained adamant from the start that he was in the Rocky Mountains to win. He proved it by beating last year’s national finalists, TCU. Then they followed it up with two more victories. In just a few weeks, the Colorado Buffaloes became popular nationwide.
Coincidentally, a recent report from the Daily Camera in Boulder, Colorado, shows that CU has earned an estimated $90.5 million in advertisement revenue since the 2023 season started. Not only that, but their games have drawn celebrity names such as Shannon Sharpe, Dwayne Johnson, and Lil Wayne.
