Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals faced each other for the first time since week 17, which saw the spine-chilling injury of Damar Hamlin. Since then, Hamlin has recovered fully and is back on his feet cheering his team through the playoffs. He was captured in the suite at the stadium.

Unfortunately, Josh Allen and the Bills couldn’t pull off another divisional-round victory despite having everything going for them. Joe Burrow was clearly the better quarterback of the day, with 242 passing yards for 2 touchdowns. Burrow also showed off his running skills as he rushed for 31 yards on 6 carries.

Allen only completed 60% of his passes for 265 yards, zero touchdowns, and one pick. The defense was impacted heavily without Von Miller and they couldn’t faze the Bengals quarterback, who was missing three of his starting offensive linemen.

The Bills looked confounded as to what they were supposed to do during the entire 60 minutes. Buffalo’s star wide receiver Stefon Diggs was targeted only four times the entire game and finished with 35 yards. Diggs was visibly upset with Josh Allen and was seen criticizing the fifth-year quarterback on the sideline. Buffalo couldn’t get the run game going, which hurt their chances at a comeback.

Buffalo Bills really had everything going for them – the fans, the snowy condition, and even the refs! The former 5th overall pick out of LSU, Ja’Marr Chase hauled in a perfectly placed ball by Joe Burrow during the second quarter for the game. Chase caught the ball inches inside of the endzone and somehow managed to keep possession of the ball with the Bills’ linebacker, Matt Milano, all up in his face.

The touchdown was overturned by officials after reviewing the play. Tony Romo, CBS’s color commentator explained why the decision by the refs was the right one. “At that point, he’s going to create possession again, but his feet are going to be right out. By the time he does that, I think it’s the correct call,” Romo said. But the football fans were unhappy with the officials’ decision because as they saw it, it was a clean touchdown.

With the overturning of what could’ve been Ja’Marr Chase’s second touchdown of the night, the Bengals had to kick the ball for a field goal and went with a 17-7 lead into the second half of the game. It’s a good thing that this decision didn’t cost the Bengals the game otherwise it could’ve gotten ugly real fast just like the Bills-Chiefs OT game last year which provoked the league to change overtime rules.
