The 2022 postseason hasn’t been kind to the undefeated record of quarterbacks against teams. First, Tom Brady‘s unbeaten 7-0 record against the Dallas Cowboys was broken during the Super Wild Card weekend and now Joe Burrow‘s 3-0 winning streak against the Kansas City Chiefs has come to a tragic end.

The Chiefs finally had their revenge for last year’s AFC Championship defeat at the hands of the Bengals. Kansas City made a last-minute victorious field goal which will take them to Super Bowl LVII after a close 23-20 win over the Bengals.

More often than not, championship games come down to that one play that makes or breaks the entire season for the teams. Fortunately for the Chiefs and unfortunately for the Bengals, that play came at the hands of 22-year-old Joseph Ossai with just 14 seconds left on the clock.

The game was tied 20-20 with just 14 seconds left in regulation and the Chiefs were still not in field goal range. That’s when Bengals’ defensive end Joseph Ossai made a hit on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and shoved him out of bounds on third-and-four on Cincinnati’s 47-yard line. This play was flagged by officials who drew an unnecessary roughing of the passer putting Kansas City’s kicker Harrison Butker in field goal range.

It was an easy 45-yard field goal for Butker, who made it without breaking a sweat and kicked the Chiefs to Super Bowl. Joseph Ossai was in tears on the Bengals’ sideline after his tackle, making it possible for the Chiefs to make the field. To get the crucial first down just seconds before the hit, Mahomes took off on his sprained ankle, but it still wasn’t enough for them to make the field goal. This is when Ossai pushed him out of bounds, making the refs throw flags on the play.

Social media did not hold back as they trolled Ossai for basically gift-wrapping the seat to Super Bowl in the hands of Kansas City. Fans were outraged and frustrated because of Ossai. If he hadn’t made the tackle, then maybe it would be the Bengals celebrating and accepting the Lamar Hunt Trophy for defending the AFC Championship. Sadly, Ossai cost them the Super Bowl and fans made sure he felt the same pain they were going through.

The Chiefs will now sit back, relax and regroup as they will travel to Arizona to face the NFC Champions, Philadelphia Eagles, for the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LVII.
