Buffalo Bills were the Super Bowl favorites and Josh Allen was favored to be the league MVP of the 2022 season. Neither of these things came to pass, and the credit goes to Joe Burrow and the Bengals. The entire league had crowned Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen as the kings who are going to rule the AFC, but Burrow gave them a fitting reply for not including him in those talks.
The Bills were out of their element on Sunday night and were handed a swift 27-10 defeat by Cincinnati at Highmark Stadium. Buffalo scored their lowest points in a game this year in the divisional playoffs matchup.
The home team was off to a slow start but quickly bounced back with a rushing touchdown from quarterback Josh Allen. He threw a pick late in the game, giving the Bengals a chance to convert on that. Ken Dorsey couldn’t get the run game going, which proved to be detrimental to them. The defense felt the impact of not having Von Miller because they couldn’t get a hand on Burrow without three of his starting O-line.
Stefon Diggs threw an angry fit during the divisional round game
While the game was frustrating for the Bills Mafia to watch, star wide receiver Stefon Diggs was angry than the fans. He was targeted only four times the entire game and ended the night with 35 yards and no touchdowns. Diggs is Allen’s favorite and most productive wideout, so it is natural for the 29-year-old receiver to get frustrated for not receiving any catches.
Stefon Diggs was seen lashing out at Josh Allen on the sideline. Whatever Diggs said wasn’t captured since his back was facing the camera, but Allen looked pretty dejected and didn’t make eye contact with the receiver. After the game, Diggs rushed to the locker room in a fit of rage. Allen explained Diggs’ sideline rant during the post-game interview. He said, “He’s (Diggs) a fiery competitor. He wants the ball. And whatever it was that we couldn’t get him the ball tonight, we’re going to have to learn from.”
The star of the “Minneapolis Miracle” was really bitter after the disappointing loss and he let it all out on Twitter. In his first tweet, he wrote, “Want me to be okay with losing? Nah.” After a few minutes, he added, “Want me to be okay with our level of play when it’s not up to the standard? Nah.” He then followed it with his third and last one that read: “It’s easy to criticize my reaction more than the result.”
This is the third consecutive time that the Bills’ Super Bowl dreams were crushed and Diggs was present at all those heartbreaks. So, it’s human for Diggs to be this salty. Let’s hope Buffalo learns from these mistakes and makes a great comeback the next season.
