The Buffalo Bills are one of the contenders to win the Super Bowl this season. They have a stacked roster with one of the deadliest WR-QB duos in Steffon Diggs and Josh Allen. Diggs joined the Bills in March of 2020 and immediately formed a connection with quarterback Allen. Since then, the duo has been bombing NFL teams. However, an incident during their Divisional Round loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last season caused many to believe that everything was not well between the duo.
The cameras caught Diggs shouting at Allen on the sidelines for not targeting him on a drive. The Bills eventually lost to the Bengals in embarrassing fashion at home. That led to rumors of a rift between the two. Diggs has declared that there is no rift and that everything is okay, but it appears that this hasn’t stopped the rumors.
On his ESPN show First Take, Stephen A Smith claimed that Diggs wanted out of Buffalo and fueled the rumors further. Smith said, “Brother wants out. I’m just telling you what I know. I’ve got my own sources. Brother wants out.”
Since then Diggs has come out with a couple of tweets stating that these rumors are not true and suggesting that he will be “rocking with his dawgs”.
Diggs previously stated that he wants to retire as a Bill and has dismissed rumors of wanting to leave Buffalo. Diggs arrived in Buffalo from the Minnesota Vikings in 2020, and since then he has had a 1,000-yard receiving season in each of his three seasons. The Bills will be in action against the New York Jets on September 12 to open their season. According to Diggs, the Allen-to-Diggs connection is here to stay for a long time.
Can the Allen-Diggs connection take the Buffalo Bills to the Super Bowl?
The Josh Allen-to-Stefon Diggs connection is one of the best in the league. Since arriving in Buffalo, Diggs has had 338 receptions for 4,189 yards receiving and 29 scores in 49 games with Allen. They have made the playoffs in each of his three seasons. The next step for the Bills will be to go deep into the playoffs and reach the Super Bowl.
They suffered an embarrassing loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the Divisional Round of the playoffs last season. Going to the Super Bowl in a loaded AFC is going to be a difficult task, but they have the personnel to do so. Allen and Diggs are two of the best players in the NFL in their respective positions and the supporting cast around them is not bad either.
This is the right time for the Bills to make an appearance at the Super Bowl with a loaded roster. The onus will eventually fall on Allen and Diggs to lead them there. If they have a typical Allen-Diggs season, they will have a legitimate chance to do so. The Bills begin their season against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets on September 12.
