The Buffalo Bills have already faced a setback before the commencement of the 2023-24 NFL season. The reigning AFC East champions are heading into their mandatory team minicamp without the star wideout Stefon Diggs. Prior to this event, the team had its OTAs or Organized Team Activities going on in full throttle. Diggs was a no-show at this as well. However, since it was not mandatory for players to attend it, it did not seem to be that serious.

However, now that the Buffalo Bills have commenced their mandatory team minicamp from Tuesday, all players and staff are required to be present. However, Stefon Diggs appears to be a no-show at the camp as Head Coach Sean McDermott in his press conference indicated the same. To make matters worse, he admitted that the absence of Diggs is, in fact, a worrisome matter.

The Head Coach described the absence of the team’s top wideout as a matter that he was “very concerned” with. He did immediately attempt to reassure Bills fans and the media by stating that he would not read more into the wideout’s absence. The real question is are the Bills bound to head into this season without Stefon Diggs on their roster?

Take a look at what has transpired this offseason. On April 2nd 2023, Stefon Diggs sends out a tweet with the words, “Comeeeeee anddddd rescue me…” which appears to be a Drake lyric on the face of it. However, did he mean something more? Maybe that’s reading too much into his tweet. Maybe he was genuinely quoting Drake and vibing to that song.

Fair enough, however, remember the time when he went off on his quarterback Josh Allen during the team’s 27-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals? Diggs was so frustrated that he ended up exiting the stadium earlier than any of his teammates or staff before returning back. The wideout has also sent out tweets such as “Want me to be okay with losing? Nah,” “Want me to be okay with our level of play when it’s not up to the standard? Nah.”

It seems pretty evident that Stefon Diggs is taking a shot at the Buffalo Bills organization, but his tweets seem to be directed toward Josh Allen. The quarterback attempted to sugarcoat their on-field spat by brushing it off as a product of Stefon’s competitiveness and his intention to help improve the team’s offense. Remember, Buffalo has gone all-in on Diggs. He is on a four-year, $96 million contract which expires the 2027 season. It is a matter of concern when the team’s Head Coach is worried about the absence of a player. Will Stefon Diggs ultimately return to the team or is he done with having Josh Allen as his quarterback?
