Stefon Diggs missed the Buffalo Bills’ mandatory minicamp ahead of the 2023 NFL regular season. While he did not disclose the reason for his absence, a cryptic message on his Instagram account has sparked debate.

Before this, Diggs was a no-show for the Bills OTAs as well. However, every player doesn’t need to attend, so it wasn’t a big deal. But this new development has caught everyone’s attention.

The minicamp began on Tuesday without the 29-year-old, and it raised a few eyebrows. Coach Sean McDermott, after the first day of the camp, expressed concern about Digss’s absence.

Even though the situation is worrying, McDermott tried to calm things down, saying he would not read into Diggs’ absence any longer. It is true that if they keep pondering over it, the players will be affected, and the minicamp will be a bust.

Diggs, earlier today, wrote this on his Instagram story: “I just be letting people cap. If them lies help you sleep better tell em big dawg.”

However, it doesn’t confirm who Diggs is referring to. One can only speculate and start from the beginning to see where it went wrong. Last season, after the loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, the camera caught Diggs shouting at quarterback Josh Allen.

Rumors started to flow that things were not well in the Bills dugout. But Allen later revealed that there’s no tension between him and Diggs, and they’re both like brothers.

Meanwhile, Diggs last April on Twitter posted, “Comeeeeee anddddd rescue me…”

Some speculate that the three-time Pro Bowler wants out of the Bills. This is surprising as he signed a 4-year contract worth $96 million last offseason.

Bills need to sort things out with Stefon Diggs before the 2023 season begins

NFL insider Ian Rapport on Tuesday said that Diggs’ situation is an “in-house” thing. He had a chat with the former Vikings player’s agent Adisa Bakari who clarified that Diggs was at the Bills facility last Sunday but left prior to the minicamp. He also questioned coach McDermott’s “being concerned” statement. Furthermore, he revealed that Diggs will attend the camp from tomorrow.

Bills Buffalo Plus YouTube Sports Director Mike Catalana also said the same

Rapport believes that Diggs’ problem isn’t related to his Bills contract, and that’s welcoming news, as they only have a $6 million cap in the bank. He speculates that the coaching staff’s inability to incorporate Diggs into their plan well has hampered his performance.

Bills Linebacker Von Miller shared his thoughts on the matter. He stated that every player is different but you treat everyone with respect, but the team is above everything else.

Josh Allen chipped in saying they are working on some non-football-related things.

This could prove Rapport’s angle that the Bills need to incorporate Diggs better into their tactics. The Bills would want everything to be sorted out before the season begins.
