Looks like the ESPN analyst who was once a big critic of the Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has turned into a fan. Those who are familiar with Stephen A. Smith know that his comic ‘reporting’ definitely should not be taken seriously. But that doesn’t mean his opinions are of no value.
Smith usually doesn’t leave his comic, sort of animated cartoon character when he criticizes the Cowboys, especially quarterback Dak Prescott. But when he goes contrary to his usual comments, it means he genuinely wants to appreciate the player. And that’s what happened when he recently praised Prescott, and again appreciated him by comparing him with Eagles’ Jalen Hurts in terms of taking pressure for the upcoming match.
During a conversation about the Cowboys vs Eagles upcoming game, who will have a tougher test — Hurts or Prescott? Smith picked Hurts, by saying:
When we talk about Dak Prescott, I would remind you he's unbeaten in three starts against the Eagles, completing 78% of his passes, averaging 293 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, just one interception.
When it comes to choosing between them, Smith believes Philadelphia quarterback Hurts will have more pressure in competing against the Cowboys’ star quarterback. He further said:
I am going to tell you the pressure is on Hurts..because he's one of the league leaders I think with 11 turnovers this season behind only Desmond Ritter, and we know the Cowboys are League Leaders in terms of forcing turnovers, they forced 13 already this season.
Analyst Smith also noted Hurts’ knee bruise, which many saw as a big problem. He advised the Eagles’ quarterback to be ready to move quickly since he won’t have much time to pass the ball.
Stephen A. Smith questions Jalen Hurts’ mobility with his knee injury
Eagles quarterback is currently suffering from a bone bruise in his left knee that he sustained over a month ago. However, despite that, Jalen Hurts threw 319 yards and four touchdowns, leading his team to another win against the Washington Commanders at 38-31.
Regrettably, Hurts wasn’t at his best. He appears to be downplaying his knee injury, affecting his mobility, as noted by the ESPN analyst. Smith cautioned that such injuries tend not to improve during the season. If the Dallas Cowboys were in this situation, they’d increase the pressure, questioning his mobility.
Hurts’ ability to lead his team to a win while going through severe pain is truly admirable. But it might cost him a big loss while facing the Cowboys on the coming Monday, even though the Eagles are the best team this season so far.
