The name of the Cincinnati Bengals‘ quarterback Joe Burrow is doing rounds after the Kansas City Chiefs achieved their second consecutive Super Bowl victory. The hunger of the Chiefs is not put off yet and they announced that they would go for more. The next target of the Chiefs is to win a 3-peat (three championships in a row).

In this context, analysts have been recalling Joe Burrow’s name of late. Skip Bayless was the first one to remember Burrow for his iconic record against the Chiefs. Now, analyst Stephen A. Smith, in the show First Take, brought up Burrow’s name, as the man to stop the Chiefs from winning consecutive three championships.

Smith said:

I think it’s the Cincinnati Bengals because of Joe Burrow. A healthy Joe Burrow, with Chase and Higgins and Boyd and the crew, I can’t underestimate them…This dude is no joke. Patrick Mahomes has two postseason losses in his career. One is to a seven-time champion named Tom Brady. The other is to Joe Burrow.

Burrow had a frustrating 2023-24 season as he was injury-ridden. The quarterback missed the preseason games and even the team’s practice due to his injury. In the first few games, he was not in his Midas touch. The highest-paid quarterback was coming back to his usual best, that’s when he suffered a finger injury and was ruled out for the rest of the season. The Chiefs beat the Bengals in his absence.

A fit Burrow has proven to be a nightmare for the Chiefs. Burrow is the only quarterback who defeated the Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes in the AFC Championship game. He has a 3-0 winning record against Mahomes. This is the reason, a lot of analysts have been picking him out.

Joe Burrow knows the job would be difficult

Despite all the analysts and Joe Burrow’s teammates having high hopes for the QB, Burrow himself is not very confident about beating the Chiefs. he knows that the job will be very difficult even if he remains physically healthy.

Burrow noted according to an article by Sports Illustrated:

It's easy to say it's harder to do, right?--We've been there we've done that, but who knows how it would have played out. You know, I was confident in where we were heading in the direction that we were going within the season.

The Bengals and the Chiefs share a fierce rivalry between them. This season, the Chiefs emerged victorious. In the next season, all eyes will be on Burrow.
