The NFL 2023-24 season has kick-started and with every game, the TV programs are getting heated with intense debates and discussions. Multiple analysts are being seen to cite their opinions regarding the teams and their favorite players. Stephen A. Smith is certainly not an exception. In a recent episode of his flagship show, ‘First Take,’ the analyst made a comparison between Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.
Both of these quarterbacks have proven themselves as legendary figures in the game despite both having an age difference of 12 years and representing two different generations. However, despite being old, Rodgers is still active in this league and setting new bars. This season also, the New York Jets are betting on this old lion. On the other hand, Mahomes is going through the best patch of his life.
While comparing both of them, Smith kept all the minute details in mind. He mentioned all the achievements both of them have made. Despite saying Aaron Rodgers is beyond all the quarterbacks who have played in this league, he said that only Mahomes can come close to you in terms of having the same amount of talent.
“I’m talking about how people are going to talk about him [Aaron Rodgers] because of the level of greatness that he’s exhibited; because he’s a four-time league MVP; because he’s a Super Bowl champion from 2010; and with his greatness years before Patrick Mahomes ever came along,” Smith said.
“There are 13 quarterbacks in the history of the National Football League who have won multiple Super Bowl champions. Do you know that not a single one of them is considered as a talent better than Aaron Rogers?” Smith also speculated that Rodgers might achieve even greater success with the Jets, given his belief that Rodgers didn’t receive the recognition he deserved with the Green Bay Packers,” he further added.

As discussed earlier, both Rodgers and Mahomes are legendary figures and have had a profound impact on the history of the game. Rodgers, who is present in this league has been awarded with Most Valuable Player (MVP) award four times. He also led the Green Bay Packers to win the Super Bowl title in 2011.
He started his career with the Packers in 2003, and he is still continuing his run in the game. When his former colleagues are enjoying retirement lives, Rodgers is being seen to hit the training ground.
Mahomes has led his team to win two Super Bowls. He has been awarded with two MVP awards. He is 27 and has a lot of football left. If he plays the game for the long term, there are possibilities that he may surpass Rodgers.
This season, Rodgers has switched sides. From the Packers, he moved to the NY Jets. Mahomes is also considered a favorite this season. It is to be seen who emerges as the winner.
